THE BEGINNING

August 19, 2021

Ontario Tech launched its first ever Catalyst Challenge which aimed to find solutions for real-life problems faced by rural Ontario in the following categories: education, talent, and healthcare. Five UTSC students (Lavaneyaa, Shraddha, Adrienna, David and Rohinn) decided to participate in this challenge and tackle the issues surrounding healthcare in rural Ontario. We thought it was a stronger choice to choose the topic of healthcare as we were all students that came from a background of science and had a passion for the field. Now the main question was what do we call ourselves? We went with the obvious: Game Changers. Because we wanted to change the game of rural healthcare baby!!!

But, little did we know…. we would be stepping outside of our comfort zones in this 10 day challenge. Our team had more or less zero experience in pitching business proposals to successful entrepreneurs. We didn’t expect to be competing with students who had a background in business and entrepreneurship. That wasn’t even the worst part, the hard part was actually coming up with our solution.
